What Is Celsius Cryptocurrency?
Celsius (CEL) is a financial platform for cryptocurrency holders that offers a wealth of services, including loans and payment options. It was launched in June 2018 and offers rewards for cryptocurrency deposits. In addition to regular payouts, users of Celsius receive interest on their holdings. The platform's native token, CEL, also performs an array of internal functions, such as boosting payouts for users if it is used as the payment currency.
Who are founders of Celsius?
Celsius is created by Alex Mashinsky and Daniel Leon in 2017. Mashinsky has extensive experience in the development of Internet technologies, having worked on Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and other technologies prior to that. Mashinsky's involvement with Celsius is far from his first corporate venture, as he has founded seven startups and filed 35 patents to date. Co-founder and COO Daniel Leon meanwhile has experience focusing on growing early-stage startups. His previous roles include being CEO of Atlis Labs, a social recommendation and discovery app which used real-time user referrals. Celsius now has a large team of core employees, technical developers and advisors with experience in various spheres.
What problem celsius solves?
A key goal of Celsius is to outperform banks on their own battlefield by offering financial services on terms that traditional financial institutions no longer can compete with, Among the benefits are much higher interest rates on savings, easier and fairer loan requirements, and rewards computed engineically for each user. Penalties and bank-style fees are also waived. As a for-profit company, Celsius takes a cut from the profit margins on interest payments. In addition to being a wallet, Celsius has a CEL token it uses to increase payout value, among other things.
