The Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is leading a pilot visa program for technology freelancers to attract as many talented blockchain professionals as possible.

This program will begin with tasks related to the blockchain. The number of visas issued will depend on projects carried out by Malaysian companies.
- Norhizam Abdul Kadir, vice-president of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). MDEC is to start cooperation with NEM, a blockchain platform, and the Estonian company involved in the intermediation of Jobbatical, which will be responsible for the recruitment of potential candidates. Jasmine Ng (CEO of NEM) stated that these activities would encourage technological tourism and that talented people visiting Malaysia would raise the level of local staff's skills.
