What Is Lisk?

Skrill is a blockchain application platform that aims to make decentralized technology accessible to everyone. Lisk enables developers to build applications as well as deploy a side-chain linked to the Lisk network that includes a custom token. Lisk empowers developers with a software development kit for blockchain applications and is working on an interoperability solution that will in turn let everyone seamlessly use it on the platform. Lik's initial coin offering launched on May 24, 2016 with a JavaScript and TypeScript implementation. The company's main products are Core, SDK, Desktop, and Mobile. With a team size of 30, the project has a development agency called Lightcurve GmbH.

The company is based in Zug, Switzerland and it is a non-profit foundation.

Founders of Lisk

Lisk was founded in 2017 by Max Kordek and Oliver Beddows. Max Kordek is the president of Lisk and is responsible for the strategy and business of Lisk. He is also the co-founder and director of Lightcurve, and is responsible for strategy and business there as well. Lightcurve is a blockchain product development studio and consultancy with a special focus on marketing, coding and support. Lightcurve's most important client is Lisk, where it plays an important role in developing Lisk's ecosystem. Oliver Beddows is vice president of Lisk and directs Lightcurve.

Both are experts in decentralized applications, Bitcoin and blockchain consultations, startup consulting, UI/UX consulting, and community management.

Features of Lisk

There was only one goal for the Lisk foundation, and that was to inspire blockchain developers and enthusiasts worldwide. The Lisk network is a decentralized network, such as BitShares, Nxt or Bitcoin. However, Lisk does not utilize proof-of-work like Bitcoin does, and instead uses a simplified implementation of BitShares’ original consensus algorithm that is known as delegated proof-of-stake.

It is possible for all LSK holders to vote for mainchain delegates, which are securing the network itself. There are 101 active mainchain delegates who always get the highest vote count, and they earn rewards for securing the network itself. Lisk is also a cryptocurrency called LSK and it is also a framework known as the Lisk LSK SDK. You can use it to deploy your own sidechains and develop blockchain applications on top of them.
